Deer Park ISD names assistant principals, one administrative position cut

There are some new assistant principals in Deer Park ISD, and one position that has been eliminated due to the expected cuts to public education funding by the Texas Legislature, according to a press release from the district.

Carey Driskell was named campus assistant principals at Deer Park High School-South Campus. Driskell began her career in 2000 as a biology teacher at the school, and in 2007, she was named the school's instructional facilitator for science, a position in which she served during the current school year.

Driskell received her bachelor of science degree from McNeese State University in May 2000, and her master of education degree from the University of St. Thomas in May 2007. Driskell fills a vacancy left by departing assistant principal Neil Munro , who was recently named principal of Fairmont Junior High.

Jennifer Guillory was named assistant principal at Deer Park High School-Wolters Campus. Guillory began her career as an educator in 1990, when she was hired as a social studies teacher at Deer Park Junior High. In 2007, she became the English instructional facilitator for DPHS-North Campus, a position she held through the current school year.

Guillory earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin in August 1988. In December 2010, she received her master of education degree from Lamar University. She replaces Clyde Skarke, who was named the school's principal.

Misti Mead was named assistant principal of Deepwater Elementary School. Mead began her career in 1998, working several years in Pasadena ISD. She joined Team Deer Park in 2003 as a special education teacher at DWE, and, five years later, she was named the school's special education department chairperson. Mead worked most recently as the school's Response to Intervention specialist.

Mead earned her master of education degree in December 2008 from Concordia University and her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Houston in December 1997. She fills a vacancy left by Debbie Yampey , who in March was named principal at Parkwood Elementary.

Mildred Mills , assistant principal at the district's Early Childhood Center, was reassigned to Parkwood. Mills fills a vacancy left by the reassignment of Robin Evans , who will serve as assistant principal at San Jacinto Elementary beginning with the 2011-12 school year.
