The house that once belonged to former debt lawyer Andrew Capoccia and his wife Carol is to be auctioned in March.

Capoccia, whose former company lost $23 million of client funds over a period of years, is currently serving nearly 16 years in federal prison. His wife recently pleaded guilty to interfering with a federal investigation, and was sentenced to a year’s probation.

The house, which was once listed for $3 million, is located at 21 Bentwood Court in Guilderland. Today, it was announced in a legal ad that a public auction will be held at 10 a.m. March 14 at the Albany County Courthouse main lobby.

The 13-year-old house includes four bedrooms, four baths, hardwood floors and other amenities. It was listed for $3 million in 2003. Two years later, the price was lowered to $995,000. RealtyUSA, which had once listed the property, also tried to sell the four lots separately for $500,000. The total property is three acres.

It was foreclosed on 18 months ago.

Andrew Capoccia, a lawyer who practiced in the region for more than 20 years, once owned the business that became The Law Centers for Consumer Protection. The businesses began in 1997 in Colonie and closed in 2003 after moving to Vermont. Thousands of clients lost a total of $23 million over the six years of operation.
