Sears brings antique experts to Clermont

Sears and its Craftsman brand are bringing their version of the "Antiques Roadshow" to Clermont on Saturday.
Craftsman has teamed up with antique Americana collector and picker, Frank Fritz, to launch "Finding America's Treasures," a campaign which will spotlight the backyard treasures and rusty gold found in garages, workshops and attics across the country.
In addition to having Fritz, of the TV show "American Pickers," value items via facebook.com/craftsman, other experts will conduct free, face-to-face, antique appraisals at 31 Sears Hometown Store locations across the country.
The Sears store at 751 E. State Road 50 in Clermont is one of only two Florida stores on the current nationwide campaign. Appraisers will be there from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday to conduct free verbal appraisals.
Craftsman also has picked the Clermont store as one of only seven stores nationwide to receive a $2,500 check for a worthy local project, store co-owner Andrew Frye said. The money will go to Clermont's Historic Village, a cooperative effort between the South Lake County Historical Society and the City of Clermont.
"We're very happy that we got the $2,500, because that will certainly help out the Historic Village," Frye said.
Scott Friedheim, president of Craftsman, said the store events nationwide are a way to thank customers.
"We want to celebrate our customers that share our passion for creating America's most trusted tools by giving them the opportunity to participate in Finding America's Treasures," he said.
In addition to the free appraisals, there will be gift bags and a raffle for customers. Craftsman Club members can also receive a 10 percent discount off any Craftsman tool or lawn and garden purchase on Saturday.
