Teen Mom's Amber Portwood released from hospital after attempting suicide
Sources have told Star magazine that she was probably held on a 72-hour hold for psychiatric evaluation which is the usual procedure after a suicide bid.
Gary Shirley, who Amber is in a temperamental relationship with and father of her two daughters, said they have been astounded by the amount of support they've received.
'The amount of positive support and energy has been overwhelming,' Shirley posted on his Twitter account last night.
'An email account has been set up for those who would like to send well wishes to Amber herself.
'Your support is too special to pass up. All emails will be screened and any positive message will be printed and given to Amber,' he added.
But on Tuesday following her suicide attempt, it has been revealed that Shirley threw a BBQ.
‘He’s concerned for Amber, but he has custody of Leah [their daughter] right now, and she’s his priority’, the source added.
Gary tweeted later that his girlfriend was feeling much better.
'Amber is safe and getting the help she needs right now. Thanks for your prayers and support.'
Meanwhile, when Gary, 25, feared Amber was about to end her life, he called 911 and told the operator: ‘I spoke with my girlfriend… she had said something to me about having a hard time with her life.
‘She said, ‘Call the police, they’re going to find my body in the garage.’
Amber was later found by authorities on her couch and was rushed to St. Johns Hospital by the ambulance.
Her ex-fiancé Gary added: ‘She’s said this several times’, when talking about Amber threatening suicide.
On Tuesday, Star Magazine reported
that Amber was found unconscious in her home in Anderson, Indiana with a
rope around her neck.
‘Late this morning (11:34 am), Anderson Police responded to a call at a residence in the 1300 block of Peasant Meadow Drive.
‘According to the caller, 21-year-old Amber L Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life.
‘The victim, who did not appear to be injured, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.’
Life & Style magazine also reported that Gary and Amber had had a fight over the phone before the incident.
