RecreationThe River Edge July 4th weekend of festivities kicks off on July 3 in Veteran’s Memorial Park with food and drink starting at 6:30pm and entertainment by “Soul Finger” featuring River Edge resident Jeanie Marri beginning at 7:30pm under the pavilion. The menu for the night includes: shrimp in a basket, chicken nuggets, fish and chips, foot-long hot dogs, french fries, sweet potato fries, ice cream and drinks. On July 4, the parade kicks off at 11am followed by the Family Fair in Memorial Park from 12:30 to 4:30pm. Rides, games, music, food and beverages will be available, along with a wide selection of vendors.
The Oradell July 4th festivities start on July 1 at Memorial Field at 9:15pm for a fireworks display (rain day July 2) with hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, kettle-corn and beverages will be available. On July 4, the parade begins at 9am on Oradell Avenue and 3rd Street followed by games and pony rides at Memorial Field. Troop 36 will be selling hot dogs and drinks.
Dog and Cat LicensesIn Oradell, if you forgot to renew your dog and cat licenses, you will be charged an additional $5 per month, per animal fine. All spayed or neutered animals have a $10 license fee, while all others are $15.
River Edge residents that have not registered their cats and dogs with the town will now have to pay a $6 penalty fee. Checks should be made payable to the Borough of River Edge and sent to the Health Department, 750 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, NJ 07661. Fees for a neutered cat is $6 per animal or $8 for a non-neutered feline. Neutered dogs are $11 and non-neutered canines are $14.
DPWDue to a recent contract dispute the Borough of Oradell was forced to resume once a week garbage collection. Effective Monday April 4, Garbage Collection for Zone 1 is Monday and Zone 2 is Tuesday. Recyclables will be collected the same day as Garbage and Yard Waste will continue as scheduled on Wednesday. This will be effective for the months of April and May. In June the pickup will be increased to twice a week. Any questions or concerns, call 201-261-8610 from 9am to 1pm.

The Oradell Public Library , Book Club will next meet on Wednesday, June 15, 7pm for Paul Murray's "Skippy Dies", a contemporary and quirky story about a 14-year-old boy, Skippy, who is found dead in a local doughnut shop within the first few pages of this novel about a prestigious boys’ school in Dublin, Ireland. And on Tuesday, June 28, 11am for "The Saving Graces," a novel on four women (Emma, Rudy, Lee, and Isabel), self-designated as the Saving Graces, who regularly meet for dinner in their Washington, D. The River Edge Girls Athletic League provides recreational sports for girls living or attending school in River Edge.
